June IDEA Talk
June 15, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm PDT$25.00
The next Klamath IDEA Talk will be held on June 15 and will feature the story of Brevada Brewhouse founders Seth Gretz and David Murphy. Additionally, the local student innovators and entrepreneurs who will be representing the community at the statewide InventOR competition will be pitching their concepts.
Gretz and Murphy founded Brevada Brewhouse in 2017 as they were both completing their degrees at Oregon Tech. In line with their vision, the business has grown into more than just a great place to grab a cup of coffee and into a place of community and gathering.
“I think people will find Seth and David’s story of starting as students here in the community and deciding it was a place they wanted to stay and build a life, compelling and encouraging,” commented Kat Rutledge, Klamath IDEA Director.
Before the story of Brevada Brewhouse is presented teams from both Klamath Community College and Oregon Tech will pitch the concepts they are using to compete at the 2022 InventOR statewide collegiate innovation competition. Paul Monteith and Anthoney Rasdal from team Tayas Yawks will be representing KCC. Their concept for a fabrication shop will teach vocational skills to those struggling with the challenges of having a criminal record or addiction as well as support the sustainability of a non-profit culturally specific peer mentoring organization. Oregon Tech will be represented by Chrys Chan and Dao Nguyen with their concept for a mobile rural health clinic.
“It’s critically important to the future of our community that we embrace and support our young and early stage entrepreneurs. They are the future of our rural places and I sincerely hope that people with come out and hear their stories and ideas,” added Rutledge.
The event will be held at Brevada Brewhouse from 5:30-8:30 pm. Food and one non-alcoholic drink ticket is included in the $25 per person price. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for networking and the Talk will start at 6:15 p.m. Attendance will be limited to 40 and tickets can be purchased in advance at Facebook.com/KlamathIDEA or at KlamathIDEA.org on the calendar page.
The 2022 IDEA Talks season has been generously supported by the Klamath Community College Small Business Development Center, the City of Klamath Falls, Klamath County, the Oregon Community Foundation’s Thriving Entrepreneur’s Program, the Ford Family Foundation’s Growing Rural Oregon program, and through Oregon State Lottery Funds administered by OBDD.
